Prevention Services
(All BVCASA prevention and intervention programs have been approved by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) as scientifically-based programs. These programs have also been approved by the Texas Education Association (TEA)).
The substance abuse education program,
Project Alert
that focuses on the substances that youth are most likely to use. It motivates youth against drugs, and teaches skills and strategies needed to resist pro-drug pressures.
Towards No Drug Abuse
is an interactive program designed to help high school youth resist substance use through motivational activities, social skills training, and decision making components.
The
Leadership Resiliency Program
was developed to enhance youths' internal strengths and resiliency, while preventing involvement in substance use and violence. Program components include: resiliency groups, alternative adventure activities, and community service. Only offered in Leon County.
The 14 session community based program
All Stars
is designed to delay the onset of or prevent high-risk behaviors in middle school-aged adolescents, 11 - 14 years old. The program was designed to foster the development of positive personal characteristics. There is no cost for this program.
The
Enrique Camarena Award
is presented annually to a law enforcement officer who has made outstanding contributions to the community in the field of substance abuse prevention or law enforcement. Each recipient is chosen from a slate of candidates nominated and voted on by law enforcement agencies throughout the Brazos Valley.
